…says he is remorseful and a born again Christian.  The West Berbice farmer and butcher Anderson Nicholson called “Andy” and “Cowboy” of D’ Edward Village, West Bank Berbice, was yesterday sentenced to 13 years in jail after the reading of a probation report which was ordered by the judge.The man was on trial before Justice Roxanne George-Wiltshire and a mixed jury at the Berbice High Court for the murder of his wife, Trevlyn Amelia Kingston, called Trevlyn Amelia Kingston-Nicholson, and Trevelyan Amelia Nicholson, on October 14, 2008 at D Edward, West Bank Berbice.Nicholson after being sentenced. In picture relatives along with members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church encourage Nicholson before he is taken away to jail.During the trial he changed his plea to guilty of the lesser count of manslaughter.When the matter began, attorney at law Tanya Warren Clement had told the court that her client wanted to plead guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.Prosecutor Attorney-at-law, Priteema Kissoon told the court that on the day in question, the mother of the deceased visited her daughter’s home at Rosignol Village and found the couple involved in an argument. She took her daughter to her home. But this did not stop the disagreement which continued at the couple’s home and eventually ended in the woman’s violent death.It was reported that on the day in question the man killed the woman at their home following a misunderstanding over a text message he received. According to reports, the accused first wounded the woman behind her neck with a garden fork before hacking her with a chopper.The mother of the deceased, Rolyn Alexander, was also brutally chopped on her forehead and other parts of her body and spent a long time in the Georgetown Public Hospital. She had stated that the couple was quarreling intensely.She said that after the fight started she tried to save her daughter by jumping in the middle, but was severely chopped in the process.  Her grandson who was five witnessed what happened.After she was attacked Trevlyn Kingston tried to run but fell on a dam next to the house and she bled to death. The man then escaped, but subsequently turned himself over to the police a day later in company of a lawyer.Before being married, the two had shared a common-law relationship for about four years and since then Nicholson was constantly being abused. Relatives back then had contended that the two were regularly involved in confrontations.The killing was witnessed by police detective corporal Juke Jack who chased after the accused, but Anderson escaped in the bushes. The cause of death was given as hemorrhage and shock due to multiple incise wounds.The probation report which was presented by Probation Officer, Ilene Thomas,Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale, stated that the accused grew up in a broken home and as early as six years he did not have adequate parental supervision.At 14 the accused was removed from the school system by his parents and placed in the care and custody of a relative whom he assisted in rearing cattle.The probation report stated that the inadequacies that the accused faced in early life robbed him of the ability to make rational decisions.Before passing sentence Justice Roxanne George-Wiltshire asked the accused if he has anything to say, to which he took out a sheet of paper and started reading.He thanked the court and said that he is remorseful of what took place. “I made up my mind to become a Christian. He stated that at the moment he is a born-again Christian having being baptized and is preaching the gospel in prison.He said, “I have come to realize that something wrong was done. It is good to accept and face up to what is morally right.” He said vengeance is God’s and asked for forgiveness. He said he has become a full fledged Seventh Day Adventist.Asked by Justice Roxanne George-Wiltshire whether he was aware of domestic violence before the incidence, Anderson said, No, but he had a kind of idea but not so full.The Judge told the accused that she is glad that he has found religious satisfaction.In passing sentence Justice George-Wiltshire noted that the court had in mind a sentence of 23 years.Justice George-Wiltshire stated that because the accused did not waste the courts time and pleaded guilty, she will deduct three years. She deducted a further three years because of a favorable probation report.Time spent was four years also, leaving 13 years which was the sentenced handed down by the judge.A number of relatives and members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church were present in court. Relatives were seen weeping after the sentence was handed down.Outside the court, the mother of the deceased, Rolyn Alexander, stated that she will leave everything to God. She has to personally take care of her now nine year old grandson.She works as a guard and is in desperate need of help for herself and grandson. She has no one to help care the child and has to take him with her wherever she goes.
