The three are located at Skeldon,Cheap NBA Jerseys Online, Eversham and Nigg.Chairman of the GPOC, Bishop Juan Edghill, said at a press conference on Thursday at the State House, New Amsterdam, that it was the Board’s decision months ago, that resulted from numerous recommendations and concerns by residents and members of the GPOC themselves, to have their offices refurbished and renovated with modernised equipment and facilities since this would ensure a boost in the production of the entity.Bishop Edghill stated that with the limited finances available, the Corporation was able to facilitate some construction works at the Skeldon, Eversham and Nigg Post Offices, which complemented the works carried out at the Black Bush Polder, Benab and Canje Post Offices.According to the official, the Post Office is a public corporation which generates its own revenue to handle its state of affairs and expenses which is why there have been spaces identified at these three Post Offices where businesses can obtain rental spaces.Rental spaces have over the years accounted for a large percentage of the GPOC’s income and annually brings in close to $60M.Bishop Edghill added that there has been drastic improvement in the efficiency of mail delivery in Berbice, in the tracking and sampling since the mail from Georgetown get to New Amsterdam before 7:00h every morning.A contractor then transports those intended for the Skeldon Post Office.Post Master General, Henry Dundas, said that the visit on Thursday allowed the Directorate to first hand view the circumstances under which a customer is served and recommendations will allow operatives to be more comfortable as the GPOC is constantly looking to improve timeliness of delivery.He said that the GPOC plans to expand the offices at Port Kaituma and have repairs done at Meten-Meer-Zorg and urged customers to ensure that overseas mail is posted by December 11 and local mail by December 19 to ensure that recipients obtain them before Christmas Day. |
