The Mayor and City Council has signalled its intentions to have a series of consultations with members of the public, concerning the budget for 2009. The meetings will begin on October 21 and will be held in local communities.According to a media release from the M&CC, the objectives of these consultations will be to provide a forum for the citizens of the Georgetown area to actively participate in the decision making process of City Hall, while at the same time understand the felt needs of the local communities.The M&CC, according to the release, wishes to foster stronger partnerships between the council and stakeholders within the community. At the same time, the consultations will also serve to promote the image and general well-being of the city of Georgetown.Mayor of Georgetown, Hamilton Green, Deputy Mayor, Robert Williams, Councillors and various other officials will be present at the meetings so as to effectively listen to the concerns of the citizens, and to answer any questions or provide any information or clarification the public may need.A schedule of the meetings and their respective venues will be placed in the media, said the Public Relations Officer of the M&CC, Royston King.King further said that all citizens in the respective communities are urged to attend and actively participate in the discourses. |
