She was awarded the Best Talent Prize for her efforts and was also voted the most intelligent- not at all surprising, considering the fact that she is a school Teacher. Our new Queen is attached to the New Silver City Secondary School.Most of the contestants chose dramatic poetry for their talent pieces and while the themes were all good, touching on some of the ills in society, including domestic violence, a few contestants were too melodramatic, which overshadowed the serious messages they were trying to convey.But Miss Aroaima, Lurlee Stephens, opted to sing while Miss Nottinghamshire, Manouska Vyhuis executed some beautiful dance moves.Four contestants were shortlisted after the talent, beach wear and evening gown segments.They were Keisha Fraser, Carlotta Johnson, Shenelle Brown and Nikieta Macfarlane.It was the crucial Question and Answer Segment that saw Fraser emerging winner.First Runner-up was Carletta Johnson, who mesmerized the crowd in an exquisite royal blue gown, while the Second and Third Runners-up were Nikieta Mac Farlane and Shenelle Brown respectively.Irie Cadogan was voted Miss Congeniality, while Keisha Lewis was deemed the most improved delegate. The Best Gown Prize was awarded to Lurlee Stephens Miss Aroima.The pageant was the first activity hosted by VYBZ entertainment, the official Franchise holders, to kick start the Linden Town Week of events.Competitors in this year’s pageant included Manouska Vyhuis- Miss Nottinghamshire; Keisha Lewis- Miss Sivertown; Lurlee Stephens – Miss Aroaima; Irie Cadogan– Miss Central Mackenzie; Keisha Fraser– Miss Victory Valley; Carletta Johnson– Miss Retrieve; Shenell Browne – Miss Christianburg; Sellon Massiah– Miss Amelia’s Ward; and Nickita McFarlane– Miss Watooka.Among the prizes, was the first prize of a trip for two to Jamaica. The First Runner-up will receive a full scholarship to the University of Guyana. Prizes will also be awarded for Best Smile, Best Body, Miss Congeniality and Best Gown. The Queen and her Runners-up will receive their prizes on a date to be announced laterThe Linden Town Week Queen automatically qualifies to enter the Miss Guyana World.
