| Robert Simels trial…Day five of deliberations ended and the jury is still undecided in the Robert Simels trial in Brooklyn,Cheap Jerseys, New York.Simels and his assistant Arianne Irving are on trial for obstruction, witness tampering and illegal importation, resulting from their representation of confessed Guyanese drug trafficker Shaheed ‘Roger’ Khan.Yesterday, the jury again requested additional material which they hope would assist in making their decision easier.To date, the 12-member jury has requested 39 pieces of material which include tape recordings of conversations between Simels and US government confidential informant Selwyn Vaughn, and transcripts of testimony from the accused during his trial.On Monday, following a weekend break, the jury listened to the two men speaking of the strategy to be employed to locate a witness who they believed could have been favourable to the case involving Khan.The men said that the witness, a female, was employed as a bartender at a Strip Club on Liberty Avenue in the Rockaway area and she was described by them as one who would “be able to say what we want her to.”During Monday’s session the requested taped portion of the recording was first heard in Court by Judge John Gleeson and the Defence and Prosecution teams before these were played for the jury. |
