| One week after a police raid in the Agricola community which resulted in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Shaquille Grant, ranks who were reportedly present at the scene are refusing to be part of an identification parade slated to determine those responsible for the incident.According to Attorney-at-law James Bond ,who is representing the young men who were with Grant when he met his demise,NFL Jerseys Authentic China, police officers refused to be placed on identification parade when the youths appeared at the Brickdam Police Station to “point out those responsible for the death of their friend”.The four teens detained following last week’s Agricola raid along with their attorney James Bond.Bond said his clients have given statements pertaining to the shooting and assisted the police in building a case against those who were involved in last week’s incident. He said the issue of statements was over the day before the intended identification parade and yesterday, his clients were told to be at the Brickdam Police Station for 10:00 o’clock to identify the ranks involved in the shooting.“We were told at 10:00 o’clock and we were gathered at the Brickdam Police Station to pick out positively those officers who were present. We got there early and were awaiting the arrival of the police officers who were part of the unit when young Shaquille Grant was killed. Lo and behold, a senior officer indicated to us that the ranks had refused to be part of the ID parade.”Bond said he understands that it is the police ranks’ constitutional right to refuse to be part of the ID parade, but it is not the end of the matter, since names and identification marks were given to the police.“There is sufficient evidence, because we have given names, we have given identification marks, we have given the police adequate information and the police know who the ranks in Agricola were.”Bond commended Commissioner of Police Leroy Brumell for calling for an inquiry into the shooting of Shaquille Grant. He however said that the next critical step is for the Top Cop to show the willingness to fulfill his promise – that is to give satisfaction to the family of the deceased in bringing the perpetrators to justice.Bond further stated that on Monday, “the officer who shot and killed Grant was positively identified at Eve Leary”. He said without question there is enough evidence against the rank involved and his clients are ready to identify that individual and the others.Bond added that Romel Bollers, who was shot in the back of the head, is on $40,000 bail. He opined that the police gave a bail amount to justify Bollers being shot. The 20-year-old is still to be charged for any offence.Two of the teens are however awaiting the return of items they said the police took away from them on the day of the incident. One of the teens said the police relieved him of $45,000 cash and a cell phone worth more than $40,000. Another youth who walked with his receipt and phone package said his Iphone valued at $160,000 was also taken away by the police ranks plus $60,000. The men said when they asked the police for their belongings, “they said ‘What money?’ and pretended to know nothing about the money or the phones.” |
